Site InfoPrivacySG1Web has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for SG1Web and its component sites (Nitpicker's NetGuide, BetaSite). Information Collection and UseSG1Web is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. SG1Web collects information from our users at several different points on our website. Log FilesThis site collect aggregate information site-wide, including anonymous site stats such as domain names and/or IP addresses. We use IP addresses to analyze trends, diagnose problems with our server, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are logged to track a user's session but are not linked to personally identifiable information. This means that a user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous. Account CreationIn order to use the Members Area of this website, a user must first complete an account creation form. During account creation, a user is required to give their contact information (such as user name and email address). This information is used to contact the user about services for which they have expressed interest or when required for site administration purposes. It is optional for the user to provide other information (such as personal web site). We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. We may also send members site and service announcement updates. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Cookies and SessionsA cookie is a small data file that certain Web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you've visited. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. A session is a type of cookie created by the system when a visitor accesses a site in order to store a number of variables between pages of the site. Sessions are generally used to maintain "state" or "persistence" within the site, somewhat akin to storing information in memory in order to make it more readily available. A session ends (and the cookie is destroyed) when the visitor leaves the site or closes their browser. SG1Web does not currently set any cookies or sessions. Once the Members area is activated, visiting SG1Web will initiate a session to store user-specific information (for example, preferences for site layout and color, saved searches, etc.) for members who have logged in to the site. This session will be closed when the user closes their browser. In addition, members may optionally set a cookie that will allow their browser to remember their login information. Discussion GroupsThis site makes chat rooms, forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Outside LinksThis web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that SG1Web is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site. SecurityThe host service (Webpipe.net) for this site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under its control. Choice/Opt-OutThis site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us at the point where we request information about the visitor. Members may have their information removed from our database by sending email to meli @ sg1web.com. Members may change or modify information previously provided during account creation by accessing their My Account page or by sending email to meli@sg1web.com. Notification of ChangesIf we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Updates page so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
